A strong password is long and unpredictable. Most password problems come from short, reused passwords.

A simple password rule

  • Use 14 to 20 characters for important accounts.
  • Use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols when the site allows it.
  • Never reuse the same password across sites.

Generate a password (step by step)

  1. Open Password Generator.
  2. Choose a length (start with 16).
  3. Pick character types (letters, numbers, symbols).
  4. Generate and copy.
  5. Save it in a password manager.

When a passphrase is better

If you must type it often, use a long passphrase. Example: 4 to 5 random words with separators.
